Staying in the exceptionally well appointed Step House Hotel - Borris, Co. Carlow
Two nights Bed and Breakfast and one evening meal.
Late check out on Day 2 to facilitate shower after we come off the river. Tour of Borris House, ancestral home of The Incredible Mr Kavanagh.

Two great days Canadian Canoeing on the River.
On our first morning we will begin our trip in Loughlinbridge and head down river to Goresbridge. Along the way we will be passing through beautiful, wild rural countryside. We will encounter many weirs which we can shoot (your choice). Also we will travel along some of the old navigation used by the Guinness barges of the past and see many of the old lock houses. Typical wildlife - Herons, Kingfishers, dippers, duck, swans cormorants and egrets and I could go on ...... did I mention the otters?

We will most likely stop near Bagnalstown for lunch and hopefully finish in Goresbridge with plenty of time for shower and pints before dinner. After dinner tour of Borris House followed by relaxation and entertainment in the village. Early night no doubt.......
Sunday morning back on the river to start again in Goresbridge. Now heading downriver again towards Graignamanagh. We will be passing through the Kavanagh estate again. We will be stopping along the river to visit the final resting place of the incredible Mr Kavanagh.

The paddle through the ancient estate is quickly followed by some some excellent, playful white water with the weir at Clashganny and the double drops at Ballykeenan weirs and rapids. We follow along after all this excitement with a paddle through the pine forest – as we make a quiet entrance into historic Graignamanagh.
Our route ends in Graiguenamanagh, a picturesque abbey town and a popular boating and craft centre. Overlooking the River Barrow is Duiske Abbey founded by Norman monks from Stanley Abbey, Wiltshire in 1204. The "Early English" design boasts a lofty nave and it is the largest of Irish Cistercian monastery churches.

This will be two excellent days on superb stretches of the river. You will have no hesitation in recommending this trip to your friends.
The cost is €200 per person sharing. (Minimum 4 people)
